Summary
The Duchesne County Commission on March 2 approved Spectra’s $1,069,528.85 bid to install Verkada cameras and access control across county buildings, citing a complete scope and included maintenance and licensing; the award will be paid from Fund 41.
The Duchesne County Commission voted March 2 to accept Spectra’s bid for Verkada cameras and access control for all county buildings at a total cost of $1,069,528.85, to be paid from Fund 41. Commissioner Jeff Chugg moved to accept the Spectra proposal and Commissioner Tracy Killian seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
Commissioners discussed the two bids the county received. Spectra’s proposal included equipment, licensing, programming and ongoing maintenance for all county facilities. By contrast, the competing bid from BHI covered only the Admin Building and omitted licensing and other county buildings and did not include full programming costs; commissioners said the BHI quote was not inclusive.
County staff raised concerns about maintenance and repair logistics for the county’s existing vendor, noting nonlocal vendors can drive up repair costs and response times. Commissioners cited vendor locality and included maintenance as factors in favoring Spectra’s complete bid.
The commission’s approval authorizes county staff to proceed with procurement and contracting steps consistent with the accepted Spectra bid. The motion included acceptance of the full contract amount and use of Fund 41 to cover the expenditure.
