Pipestone County held a required public meeting Feb. 24 for a feedlot permit application by Pacific Cascade LLC.
Environmental Director Kyle Krier said the project is proposed in the NE quarter of Section 23, Grange Township, and would consist of one total confinement building with under‑floor liquid manure storage designed to hold 2,400 wean‑to‑finish swine (720 animal units). Owner Gordon Spronk attended virtually via Zoom to describe the proposal. Krier noted a township variance has been approved; no action by the county commissioners was required at the meeting.
Why it matters: Feedlot permits and manure storage design affect local land use, odor control and environmental oversight; the application met the threshold requiring a public meeting under Minn. Stat. §116.07. The record will be part of the county’s permitting process and any future permit decision.
