Audit and Finance Committee meets in executive session to discuss appointment of city auditor

The Audit and Finance Committee of the Austin City Council met in executive session on Tuesday, Oct. 14 to discuss personnel matters related to appointing a new city auditor, the committee chair said.

“We are in the process of appointing a new city auditor,” the chair said during the special-called meeting that opened at 1:00 PM in City Council Chambers at Austin City Hall. The chair cited Texas Government Code §551.074 as the authority allowing the committee to deliberate in closed session on personnel matters.

The committee entered executive session at about 1:01 PM. The meeting resumed and the chair announced at 3:06 PM that the Audit and Finance Committee had been meeting in executive session on the personnel matter and, with no further business, adjourned the special-called meeting. The transcript does not record any public announcement of an appointment or any formal vote at the public session.
