Dawson County Board of Equalization approves minutes and vehicle tax exemption for Calvary Assembly of God

LEXINGTON, Neb. — The Dawson County Board of Equalization met March 13, 2026, and approved routine minutes and a vehicle tax-exemption request for a local church.
Chairman PJ Jacobson called the meeting to order at 9 a.m. County Clerk Michaela Arndt recorded that Commissioners Rod Reynolds, Bill Stewart, Joe Richeson and Kevin Swanson were present with Jacobson.
Jacobson noted that the Open Meetings Act posting was available to the public and that proof of publication of the meeting notice was on file in the county clerk’s office.
Commissioner Bill Stewart moved to approve the Feb. 27, 2026 regular meeting minutes as presented; Commissioner Kevin Swanson seconded. The motion carried with Commissioners Rod Reynolds, Bill Stewart, Kevin Swanson and Chairman PJ Jacobson voting aye and Commissioner Joe Richeson abstaining.
The board then considered a Form 457 request for vehicle tax exemption submitted by Calvary Assembly of God. Commissioner Kevin Swanson moved to approve the request; Commissioner Rod Reynolds seconded. The board unanimously approved the exemption covering a 2012 Ford Expedition, a 1999 unit trailer and a 2013 Ford Expedition.
County Clerk Michaela Arndt certified that the items discussed were on the agenda and that notice requirements were met. The meeting adjourned at 9:01 a.m.
Votes at a glance: The minutes approval motion passed 4-0 with one abstention; the Form 457 vehicle tax exemption passed 5-0.
