Two River Utilities updates Brooklyn water relocation, pump-station closeout and AMI rollout in Cramerton

Kyle Butler of Two River Utilities (TRU) briefed the Town of Cramerton Board of Commissioners on March 4, 2025, about several utility projects affecting the town. He said the City of Gastonia has accepted a $1,105,000 State Reserve Earmark for the Brooklyn Neighborhood Water Relocation project, which will replace undersized water mains and move mains into public right-of-way where possible; surveying is complete and in-house design work is under way.
Butler reported that construction of the Big Lakewood Pump Station hazard-mitigation project is substantially complete and that TRU has begun closeout work; as-built plans are being revised and retainage will be released to the contractor after the plans are approved. He also said TRU and its AMI implementation firm held a project kickoff in January, materials have been ordered, and the communications propagation plan for the Advanced Metering Infrastructure rollout is being finalized; TRU will notify Cramerton staff before work inside town limits begins.
The updates were presented as informational items; commissioners did not take formal action on these projects at the March 4 workshop. The town manager and TRU will continue to coordinate timing and any work that affects town rights-of-way.
