At its Jan. 21, 2025 workshop the Town of Cramerton Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a voluntary annexation from Crossfix Ministries for parcels at 6117 and 6131 Wilkinson Boulevard (Parcel IDs 185776 and 185779) and approved an accompanying rezoning to bring the parcels into town zoning.
Assistant Town Manager Josh Watkins told commissioners the parcels total about 2.27 acres, are contiguous to the town via a satellite annexation parcel owned by Crossfix Ministries, and were recently released from the City of Belmont’s extraterritorial jurisdiction. The rezoning petition (RZ25-03) proposes moving the sites from Belmont zoning designations (HC, Highway Commercial and RR, Rural Residential) to Cramerton’s B-2 Business District and the Wilkinson Boulevard Overlay District. Planning Board review occurred in January and no public comment was recorded during the hearing.
Commissioner Kathy Ramsey moved to approve Annexation Case AN24-04 and Commissioner Scott Kincaid seconded; the motion to approve the annexation passed unanimously. Commissioner Dixie Abernathy moved to approve Rezoning Case RZ25-03 and Mayor Pro Tempore Richard Atkinson seconded; the board voted unanimously to adopt the rezoning.
Staff will update zoning maps and coordinate recordation steps to complete the annexation and rezoning process.
