Cramerton rejects NCDOT three-way stop proposal for Lakewood and Eagle Roads

The Town of Cramerton Board of Commissioners voted on Nov. 5 to reject a proposal from the North Carolina Department of Transportation to install a three-way stop at the intersection of Lakewood Road and Eagle Road.
Town Manager Zach Ollis told the board NCDOT had considered a roundabout for the intersection but ruled it out because of monetary and engineering constraints; the three-way stop proposal was presented as an alternate traffic-control measure. Staff and Police Chief Adams expressed concern that a three-way stop could cause traffic backups during school hours. Commissioner Jennifer Ramsey moved to reject the proposal; Commissioner Kathy Ramsey seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous.
The board recorded no further direction in the minutes; staff did not accept the three-way stop option and no new traffic-control measure was adopted at the workshop.
