Summary
Assistant Town Manager Josh Watkins presented two recent speed studies for Chesterfield Drive; Town Manager Zach Ollis relayed NCDOT guidance that speed bumps are avoided unless engineering studies and resident consent for snowplow removal exist. No action was taken; staff will follow up.
The Town of Cramerton Board of Commissioners reviewed traffic-calming data and options for Chesterfield Drive and Mayflower Avenue at its Nov. 5 workshop. Assistant Town Manager Josh Watkins presented two speed studies for Chesterfield Drive and said the results showed no significant differences between the two studies.
Town Manager Zach Ollis reported he spoke with Scott Poston of the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) about Mayflower Avenue. Ollis said NCDOT generally avoids using speed bumps unless engineered studies recommend them and residents agree to forgo snowplow access; NCDOT did not recommend installing speed bumps on Mayflower Avenue. Chief Adams reported that police presence in the area has been increased.
No formal action was taken; Ollis said staff will follow up with NCDOT about whether stop signs are recommended and will return the agency's input to the board for further discussion.
