Downtown Newton Development Association recommends cancelling 2020 events

Leslie Yount, president of the Downtown Newton Development Association (DNDA), told the council the DNDA board is recommending canceling all DNDA‑sponsored events in 2020 because of safety concerns. The organization plans to try to move the concert series to spring 2021 because deposits are in place for three bands.
Yount listed events recommended for cancellation or rescheduling, including the July 11 Legacy Band, August 1 Darrell Harwood, September 5 Gary Lowder and Smokin’ Hot, October 24 Spooktacular, and the November 21 Light Up the Town. She said the Promotions Committee will assess options for safely marking the courthouse lighting as the date approaches.
