Public Works and Utilities Director Dusty Wentz told council the state offered $150,000 with a required 15% local match ($22,500) and a 1.5% grant fee ($2,250). The study will evaluate roughly 55,000 feet of sewer mains and over 150 manholes in the northeastern collection system to identify inflow and infiltration that have contributed to sewer overflow incidents and state violations.
Staff said it released a Request for Qualifications and recommended the most qualified engineering firm; council then unanimously approved the award and acceptance of engineering services (listed in the minutes as "AIA Engineering for Sewer Investigation") so work can begin after contract execution.
Council recorded the acceptance and directed staff to move forward with engineering and follow standard procurement and reporting procedures.
