Cameron Parker, assistant director of Parks and Community Services, told the board the packet contained an error: the redline was placed against an outdated bylaws version. Elizabeth moved an amendment to apply the redline edits to the April 2024 bylaws; the amendment was seconded and approved by voice vote. Chair Chitra Klima then called for a vote on the main motion as amended and declared it approved unanimously.
Parker said the changes include two substantive edits regarding board member terms and the length of exclusions in the oral communications section, and he outlined the two-step voting process (vote on an amendment first, then on the amended main motion). Board discussion was limited and the amendment resolved the procedural issue raised by staff and the chair.
The board did not record individual roll-call tallies in the meeting minutes; the chair announced unanimous approval on both the amendment and the main motion as amended. The bylaws update will be applied to the current (April 2024) version of the Parks and Community Services Board bylaws and incorporated into future board documents.
The board moved on to other agenda items after thanking staff for correcting the packet error and completing the vote.
