Subcommittee extends public-record-exemption repeal dates tied to social-media antitrust probes

House Bill 7015 would extend repeal dates for two public-record exemptions related to antitrust investigations of social-media platforms from Oct. 2, 2026 to Oct. 2, 2031; sponsor said parts of the law have been enjoined by courts since 2021.
Representative Greco told the committee that House Bill 7015 would extend the repeal dates for two public-record exemptions used in investigations of social-media platforms alleged to have committed antitrust violations or improperly restricted user speech. Greco said the exemptions protect information received by the Department of Legal Affairs and law-enforcement agencies, and were originally enacted in 2021 but have been partly enjoined by court proceedings.
There were no questions or public testimony. The sponsor closed and the committee took a roll call; the chair announced the bill passes and that House Bill 7015 would be shown favorable.
The bill as reported would continue the temporary public-record exemptions through Oct. 2, 2031; further floor action is required for final enactment.
