Charles McIntyre introduced as newest Bellevue Arts Commissioner

Commissioners welcomed Charles McIntyre, the Arts Commission’s newest member. McIntyre said his family has deep roots in Bellevue, described work history in the area, and said he comes to the commission as a writer and visual artist who has recently returned to hands-on artmaking.
“My name is Charles McIntyre … I saw this advertisement for the Arts Commission and thought that would be a perfect place to start,” McIntyre said, describing childhood ties to Bellevue and a professional background that includes the Iowa Writers’ Workshop and recent painting and Etsy work. He said his children’s participation in Bellevue School District music programs further motivated his interest in serving.
Commissioners welcomed McIntyre and thanked staff for handling onboarding. Staff asked McIntyre to join the grants committee and he accepted, saying he’d be pleased to participate.
