On Feb. 11 the Plantation City Council adopted on second reading an ordinance deleting Section 5‑39 (performance bond) from Article 4 (swimming pool standards) of chapter 5 of the city code. The city attorney described the item as a public‑hearing second reading; no members of the public spoke on the ordinance and the council voted to approve the change.
The meeting’s consent items also included approval of a contract to restore aeration and fountain service at Central Park’s lake, following a public comment urging attention to lake health and potential long‑term enhancements; the motion to approve item 9 passed on roll call. Additionally, the council approved a mayoral appointment to the Fire Pension Board (Hank Van Bylen to replace Amy Dittner) by motion and roll call.
The council discussed a process request to bring a 40‑year condominium inspection/fine matter back to a future agenda; staff agreed to prepare background materials. The meeting adjourned at 7:12 p.m.
