A motion to transfer $1,000,000 from PILT into project account 4007 for the museum rehabilitation and expansion was moved, seconded and carried by voice vote with no public opposition.
During the same discussion the museum noted recent grant success (a $250,000 award from the Institute for Museum and Library Services) and a capital campaign approaching $1.5 million; presenters said the full project was estimated at several million dollars and that the PILT allocation would strengthen applications for targeted federal grants. Commissioners asked for clarity about the use restrictions and directed staff to place the PILT dollars into the capital improvements account earmarked for the museum repository and expansion.
