Albertville board unanimously approves personnel changes, contracts and superintendent trip; schedules vape-policy vote

At a brief special-called meeting Oct. 17, the Albertville City Schools Board of Education unanimously approved personnel items (including terminations), six independent contracts and authorized the superintendent to accompany the Aggie Band to Orlando; Superintendent Dr. Bart Reeves presented a vape-awareness policy for first reading to be voted Oct. 21.
The Albertville City Schools Board of Education met in a special-called session on Oct. 17, 2025, and unanimously approved several personnel actions, independent contracts and an authorization for the superintendent to chaperone the Aggie Band on an out-of-state trip.
Board President Mrs. Melissa McKee called the meeting to order at 7:45 a.m. and asked for approval of the meeting agenda. Mrs. Annie Furrer moved to approve the agenda; Mr. John Gladden seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
Dr. Bart Reeves, the district superintendent, recommended approval of Personnel Items A–E (Document # P-101725). "Dr. Reeves recommended the Board approve the attached Personnel Items. [A-E] Document # P-101725," the minutes state. A motion to approve the personnel list was made by Mrs. Amanda Baugh, seconded by Mrs. Annie Furrer, and passed unanimously.
The board also approved a separate attached list of terminations (Document # PT-101725). The minutes record that Mr. John Gladden moved to approve the terminations, Mrs. Amanda Baugh seconded, and the motion was unanimously approved.
Independent Contracts 1–6 (Document # IC101725) were recommended by Dr. Reeves and approved after a motion by Mrs. Annie Furrer and a second from Mrs. Amanda Baugh, again with a unanimous vote.
On a single personnel-related travel item, Dr. Reeves requested authorization to accompany the Aggie Band to Orlando, Florida, Nov. 11–15, 2025, where the band is scheduled to perform in the Magic Kingdom Main Street Parade. The minutes note that the student and band staff trip had been approved previously on Oct. 18, 2024; the board approved Dr. Reeves' request to accompany the band after a motion by Mr. John Gladden and a second by Mrs. Annie Furrer.
All motions recorded in the minutes were approved unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 7:49 a.m.
