Carter County commissioners approve payroll and housekeeping resolutions, set Jan. 15 hearing on consolidating public administrator

The Carter County Board of Commissioners voted to approve payroll and claims and to adopt routine administrative resolutions during its meeting. Commissioners approved payroll totaling about $325,000 and total claims of roughly $341,000 after a roll-call-style voice vote; there was no public comment.
The board also approved Resolution 12312025-01, a declaration of intent to consolidate the elected public administrator office with the county attorney’s office, but agreed the resolution will not take effect until after a public hearing scheduled for Jan. 15. “We’ll make it effective after the public meeting,” Commissioner (speaker 3) said when moving the conditional approval; the motion was seconded and carried.
Commissioners adopted Resolution 12312025-02 setting the county courthouse holiday schedule for 2026. A commissioner asked for clarification about recognizing days adjacent to Christmas; the board confirmed the resolution follows state-recommended holidays and carried the motion by voice vote.
The board elected its presiding officers for the coming year. Commissioner (speaker 3) nominated a slate that included the current chair remaining as chairman and Pam as vice chairman; the motion was seconded, and the Chair (speaker 1) was elected along with the vice chair by voice vote.
The meeting’s consent agenda also included approval of records disposal (form R-88) related to election records and tabling a separate FM/television tower agreement with Fallon County until the board can discuss details with that county. Commissioner (speaker 3) said the TV item should be delayed for further coordination; the motion to table was seconded and carried.
The board recessed after completing these housekeeping items. The public hearing on the public-administrator consolidation remains scheduled for Jan. 15.
