County engineers reviewed updated plans for the proposed Boyse road shop on Jan. 15, showing a change from a 40x60 to a 50x60 building, concrete slabs at doors, insulation and electrical layouts, sleeves for future water and sewer, and a center trench drain.
Engineers recommended minor design revisions (concrete slab details, insulation, and location of the propane tank). Commissioners discussed easement wording and the need to record the boundary survey; staff confirmed a survey exists and will provide certified copies for recording. The project design team said they would finalize structural details and prepare a project manual for advertisement.
The team set a tentative public‑advertisement schedule: advertise in late January, run notices for two weeks, and open bids on Feb. 19 at 2:00 p.m. Staff will reach out to local contractors (Sundance Custom Steel and others) directly to distribute bid sets and encourage local bids. The county will also assist prospective contractors with public‑project compliance questions, including certified payroll and Davis‑Bacon requirements if applicable.
Commissioners asked staff to include a site‑survey reference on the plans and ensure the project manual’s advertisement dates match the final schedule before publication.
