MARSHALL COUNTY, Ala. — At a regularly scheduled meeting on Aug. 7, 2025, the Marshall County Board of Education unanimously approved the agenda and a series of routine motions to prepare for the 2025–26 school year, including adoption of the district student handbook incorporating state-mandated changes, contracts for student services and multiple personnel actions.
Superintendent Cindy Wigley recommended the board approve the agenda and the previous meeting minutes and then presented several items for action. "Superintendent Wigley recommends the Marshall County Board of Education approve the 2025-2026 Student Handbook with changes as attached, and to include new state-mandated code and policy changes, as released by the ALSDE," the record shows. The board voted unanimously on each motion; movers and seconders are recorded in the minutes.

- Personnel and staffing actions: The board approved a TEAMS contract for Amanda Stephens (Douglas Middle School, one-year preliminary), multiple temporary contracts including Jessica Davis (long-term substitute at Douglas High School, Aug. 1–Nov. 3, 2025) and part-time EL interventionists and psychometrists for Aug. 1, 2025–May 31, 2026, several staff transfers (Maricela Medina, Jamie Brothers, Nancy Salazar) and new hires including Zachary Hurst (effective Aug. 7, 2025) and Brittany Nieto (effective Aug. 21, 2025, pending background and workkeys assessment). All personnel motions were approved unanimously.
Meeting logistics and next steps: The board noted that the next regular meeting is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. on Aug. 28, 2025, at the Marshall County Board of Education boardroom. The meeting adjourned after the final unanimous motion to close the session.
