Superintendent Cindy Wigley told the Marshall County Board of Education on July 31 that the district will open the school year with all gymnasiums air-conditioned for the first time, and she thanked administrators, teachers and staff for summer work to prepare buildings.
Wigley also recognized TAASRO School Safety Specialist Lead SRO Hester Hollis and reported that the Bailey Group provided updates on school improvement progress. The board discussed school-safety workforce arrangements and approved, under an existing Memorandum of Agreement with the Marshall County Sheriff's Department, School Resource Officers to be paid hourly for extracurricular and after-school activities; Kristian Bush was listed for SRO additional duties and the board approved that item unanimously.
The superintendent noted upcoming board meeting dates. The board approved adjournment following the listed agenda items.
No changes to district-wide safety policy or new funding amounts were recorded in the minutes; the MOA was referenced as the governing arrangement for SRO hourly assignments.
