The Marshall County Board of Education met Sept. 30, 2025, in the boardroom and unanimously approved the meeting agenda, minutes and a package of routine administrative items, the board’s superintendent announced.
Superintendent Dr. Cindy Wigley recommended approval of the agenda and multiple personnel and financial items. The board approved the agenda on a motion by Mr. Tony Simmons, seconded by Mr. Terry Kennamer.
The board approved minutes from prior meetings (Sept. 11 and Sept. 24); the Sept. 11 minutes were approved with one abstention by Mr. Mark Rains, and the Sept. 24 minutes passed with Mr. Rains again recorded as abstaining. The board also approved paid payables and financial statements for June and July.
On personnel matters, the board approved leaves of absence for Caleigh Wallace (teacher, Brindlee Mountain High School; Aug. 27–Dec. 19, 2025) and Yelinette Sepulveda (translator, Douglas Elementary School; Sept. 29–Oct. 10, 2025). The board assigned additional duties to several staff members for the Marshall County Online School and Sloman Primary School.
The board approved a set of temporary contract and contract-extension actions for instructional and support staff, including extensions for EL auxiliary teachers Chloe Avans, Marcela King and Nancy Saucedo, long-term substitutes and hiring of Tim Hall for Communications Services, among others.
Superintendent Wigley also recommended travel for Casey Partain, CNP Supervisor, to attend a Duke Manufacturing tour in Kansas City, Missouri, Oct. 21–23, 2025, with costs paid by PMR; the board approved the travel request.
The board accepted resignations and a retirement, including LaShanne Scott (teacher, resignation and retirement effective Oct. 1, 2025) and Sharron Whitaker (part-time bookkeeper, resignation effective Oct. 3, 2025).
The board approved appointment of Stephanie Springfield from assistant principal at Brindlee Mountain High School to probationary principal at Brindlee Mountain Primary School, effective Sept. 25, 2025–June 30, 2027.
New hires approved included Chris Willoughby (bus driver), Amanda Tanner (teacher, pending certification), and Chloe Avans (EL auxiliary teacher) with the effective dates noted in the superintendent’s recommendations.
All motions recorded in the minutes passed by unanimous vote except where individual abstentions were recorded on the Sept. 11 and Sept. 24 minute approvals. The meeting adjourned following the superintendent’s recommendation.
The board listed its next meeting for 4:00 p.m. Oct. 9, 2025.
