Mark Rains elected Marshall County Board president; Kennamer chosen as vice president

The Marshall County Board of Education on Nov. 6 elected Mr. Mark Rains as board president and Mr. Terry Kennamer as vice president, after motions and unanimous votes recorded in the meeting minutes.
Superintendent Dr. Cindy Wigley gave the superintendent's report, announcing upcoming board meeting dates of Nov. 20 and Dec. 18 and noting district recognitions for attendance at AASB training sessions. The minutes state the district received notification from "ALDSE" that the special education department meets federal and state requirements under the State Performance Report (SPP/APR); the record commended the deputy superintendent and special education staff. The minutes also list Dec. 2 as Special Education Day during the district's December Appreciation Days.
Procedural business at the start of the meeting included approval of the Nov. 6 agenda on a motion by Mr. Tony Simmons, seconded by Mr. Terry Kennamer. The vote was recorded with Mr. Bill Hancock abstaining and the four other members voting in favor. The board also approved minutes from three prior meetings (Sept. 26, Sept. 30 and Oct. 9) with the votes recorded in the minutes and several individual abstentions noted where applicable.
The elections: Mr. Rains' election as president was put forward by Mr. Tony Simmons and seconded by Mr. Bill Hancock; the motion was recorded as unanimously approved. Mr. Kennamer's election as vice president was moved by Mr. Mark Rains and seconded by Mr. Tony Simmons and likewise recorded as unanimously approved. The meeting adjourned later in the agenda after additional personnel items were handled.
