J. Kevin Royal M.D., chairman of the Opelika City Schools Board of Education, presided over a meeting in which the board voted to table approval of a contract with Scout Program Management pending review of the contract.
On a motion by Antione T. Harvis, vice-chairman, seconded by Tipi Miller, the board voted to table the approval. The minutes record the action as a vote to table the item so the contract could be reviewed; no final approval or vote on the contract was recorded.
The item was discussed in the context of the capital projects update presented later in the meeting by Dr. Kevin Davis, superintendent, and Tiffany Yelder, assistant superintendent, who listed “Scout project management” among active capital items. The minutes also note potential land clearing at a new site and renovations at Morris Avenue Intermediate School and Jeter Primary School as part of the capital projects discussion.
The board did not set a date in the minutes for returning the Scout Program Management contract to the agenda. The motion to table preserves discussion of the contract while staff and board members review the agreement’s terms.
