Cleburne County Board of Education approves personnel moves, FCCLA trip and Cooperative Education procedures

At its Oct. 6, 2025 meeting in Heflin the Cleburne County Board of Education unanimously approved multiple personnel hires and transfers, adopted Cooperative Education Program procedures for CCCTS, approved an RHS FCCLA trip to Washington, D.C. The Cleburne County Board of Education met Oct. 6, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. at the central office in Heflin and unanimously approved a slate of personnel actions, adopted Cooperative Education Program procedures for CCCTS, approved an RHS FCCLA field trip to Washington, D.C., and updated the district's library information services manual.
The board approved the employment of four candidates on the superintendent's recommendation. Vicki Holt was approved as a homebound teacher at FES (job posting No. 34-25-26). Jordan Hinton was approved as a TEAMS math teacher at CCHS on a one-year preliminary contract, contingent on approval from the Alabama State Department of Education. Matthew Vetter was approved as an instructional aide at CCES (job posting No. 43-25-26), effective Nov. 1, 2025. Amanda Johnson was approved as an instructional aide at CCES (job posting No. 43-25-26), pending WorkKeys certification. Tracy McMahan moved to approve the hires; Jerimy Bryant seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.
The board also approved two personnel transfers. Dylan Jones will move from instructional aide at CCMS to instructional aide at CCES (job posting No. 43-25-26), effective Oct. 13, 2025. Vivian Hubbard will transfer from first-grade teacher at PGES to ARI coach at PGES (job posting No. 44-25-26), effective Jan. 2, 2026. The transfers were approved by unanimous vote following a motion by Jerimy Bryant and a second by Tracy McMahan.
Board members approved a field trip request from Alicia Hendrix for Randolph High School FCCLA students to attend the FCCLA Capital Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C., Nov. 15–19, 2025, to travel by airplane. The motion to approve the trip was made by Owen McWhorter and seconded by Jerimy Bryant; the vote was unanimous.
The board adopted the Cooperative Education Program Procedures for CCCTS, which the minutes list as including safety procedures; cooperative education programs; procedures for solving cooperative education problems; specialized cooperative programs; a training agreement; work-based training guidelines; and live work. Tracy McMahan moved approval; Owen McWhorter seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
The board appointed Jerimy Bryant as delegate and Jay Grubbs as alternate for the Alabama Association of School Boards Convention and Delegate Assembly scheduled for Dec. 4–6, 2025, in Montgomery. The board also approved the Cleburne County Library Information Services Manual 2025 Update. Both votes were unanimous.
Superintendent David Howle noted the next regular board meeting will be Monday, Nov. 3, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. at the central office and reminded members of the upcoming SSA Fall Conference (Oct. 13–15, 2025) and the AASB Convention (Dec. 4–6, 2025). With no further business, Jerimy Bryant moved to adjourn; Owen McWhorter seconded and the meeting adjourned following a unanimous vote.
