The Birdville ISD Board of Trustees approved several action items at its Dec. 11 meeting in unanimous voice votes with six members present.
Personnel: President Kunkel announced Dr. Stinson had accepted seven resignations and three retirements. Mr. Dilkes moved that the board approve and adopt all personnel items, including the superintendent’s contract as discussed in closed session; the motion was seconded and carried unanimously with six members voting in favor.
Contract for property-value study: Mr. Tolbert moved that the board approve a contract with Linebarger, Goggin, Blair & Sampson LLP for property value study services and authorize the superintendent to finalize terms and execute the agreement. The motion was seconded and passed unanimously.
Collegiate Academy mascot: Mr. Drees moved that 'Bears' be approved as the Collegiate Academy of Birdville’s official mascot. Trustees discussed the character of the mascot ("fierce but cuddly") and approved the motion unanimously.
New course offerings and consent agenda: Trustees approved proposed course offerings for the 2026–27 school year. A motion to approve all items on the consent agenda carried; that consent package included the recommended adoption of Bluebonnet Learning instructional materials and other routine approvals.
Vote record (as captured in the meeting dialogue): President Kunkel (yes); Mr. Dilkes (yes); Mr. Davis (yes); Mr. Tolbert (yes); Mr. Drees (yes); Mrs. Sanders Wise (yes). Mr. Womble was absent. Where individual yea/nay names were not recorded in the transcript, actions were indicated as unanimous by raised hands.
Why it matters: The personnel approvals and contracts set near-term district staffing and administrative arrangements; the mascot decision finalizes CAB’s campus identity; and the consent package advances instructional and operational items for implementation.
What’s next: Staff will finalize contracts, assemble the deployment committee for instructional materials, and implement the approved course offerings and mascot rollout as directed by administration.
