Cleburne County Board approves consent agenda, hires teacher and two bus riders

The Cleburne County Board of Education unanimously approved its consent agenda and several personnel recommendations at a special-called meeting on Nov. 19, 2025. Board President Jay Grubbs called the meeting to order and Superintendent David Howle presented the personnel recommendations.
The board approved the consent agenda, which included adopting the meeting agenda and approving the minutes of the board’s Nov. 3, 2025 meeting. Chad Smith moved to approve the consent agenda; Owen McWhorter seconded the motion, and the vote was unanimous.
On personnel matters, the board approved the employment of Serena Causey as a first-grade teacher at PGES (job posting 46-25-26), effective Dec. 1, 2025, for the remainder of the 2025–26 school year. The board also approved Michael Elkins and Pamela Lipscomb as bus riders (job posting 47-25-26) as needed. The motion to approve these hires was made by Chad Smith, seconded by Owen McWhorter, and carried unanimously.
Separately, the board took up an amendment to the effective date for Vivian Hubbard on job posting 44-25-26, moving her start date from Jan. 2, 2026 to Dec. 1, 2025. Jerimy Bryant moved the motion with a second from Tracy McMahan; the board approved the amendment unanimously.
The meeting venue listed the board’s address as 141 Davenport Drive in Heflin; the minutes record the meeting as called to order at 4:30 p.m. and show the meeting adjourned at 5:30 p.m.
