The Flathead County planning board tabled the Flathead Lake Club subdivision after a lengthy public-comment session, Planning & Zoning Director Eric Mack reported to commissioners on July 22.
Mack said the planning-board meeting was the fullest he’s seen in the county conference room, with overflow attendance and substantial public comment. He said the subdivision was tabled and expected to return to the board for a decision on Aug. 21. Mack also reported June revenue for the department was about $12,008, a drop from May and from the same month last year, and that the composition of applications has shifted (fewer major subdivision applications and more minor subdivisions and family transfers), contributing to the decline in fee revenue.
Mack outlined several planned zoning and subdivision code updates to implement changes from the most recent legislative session, including moving manufactured homes and RV parks out of subdivision review to a separate process, adding performance standards for RV parks, revising manufactured-home and factory-built housing definitions and adding a tiny-home category. He said these changes will go first to the planning board and then to a public hearing as required by state statute.
What happens next: The Flathead Lake Club subdivision will be re-noticed for board consideration in August; county planning staff will bring draft zoning and subdivision text amendments forward following planning-board review.
