Commissioner recuses; Cramerton hires local firm for IT services

Assistant Town Manager Josh Watkins presented the proposed contract, saying the Town’s FY23 average monthly cost for IT services was $2,679.13 and the estimated new contract cost is $2,679.50 per month. Watkins said Design Tech, a Cramerton-based firm that serves the City of Lowell, would provide an expanded scope of services for a comparable monthly cost. Commissioner Jennifer Ramsey moved to approve the draft contract and Commissioner Kathy Ramsey seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
The action formalizes a change in vendor and expands the Town’s IT service scope. Commissioner Abernathy did not participate in the discussion or vote because of her stated family connection to the vendor.
