Cramerton moves $474,915 in unspent fire grant funds into FY2025 budget

The Town of Cramerton Board of Commissioners unanimously approved Budget Amendment #4 on Sept. 3, 2024, to move $474,915 in unspent grant funds for new fire truck accessories into the FY2025 budget. Assistant Town Manager Josh Watkins presented the amendment to the board.
Watkins told the board the original grant for accessories totaled $510,752. The fire department spent $35,837 in fiscal year 2024, leaving a balance of $474,915 that reverted to the town’s fund balance at the close of FY2024. The amendment would pull those funds back from the fund balance and allocate them to the FY2025 budget so the accessories can be purchased.
Commissioner Scott Kincaid moved approval and Commissioner Dixie Abernathy seconded. The vote was unanimous.
The board did not specify a purchase schedule or vendors during the workshop; staff presented the financial figures and asked the board to reauthorize the use of the grant balance in the coming fiscal year.
