Crowley ISD readies 70-team Black History Quiz Bowl Feb. 21 at North Crowley High

Crowley ISD officials invited the community to attend the district's Black History Quiz Bowl on Saturday, Feb. 21, which will be hosted at North Crowley High School.
Dr. Polk, who presented the preview to the board, said the event will include 70 teams'the largest turnout in the district'with 42 elementary teams and 28 secondary teams. "Take a breath because this is the largest amount of students we have ever had," Dr. Polk said, and noted the district is making arrangements to accommodate the number of participants. The district will provide breakfast at 8 a.m. and open ceremonies will begin at 9 a.m.
Additional programming includes an art contest led by Stacy Lawton and a door-decorating competition across campuses; winners will be reported back to the board. Dr. Polk asked the board and community to come out and vote on Saturday and thanked staff and volunteers who organized the event.
Trustee Shakena C.C. Watkins, whose child previously participated, praised the event'calling it "amazing" and said it exceeded expectations. The board thanked Dr. Polk and the organizing team.
The event is presented as a districtwide celebration tied to the district's Black History Month theme and is intended to engage students, parents and community members.
