Summary
At its January meeting the Cedar Hill ISD board heard remarks and a career overview for Coach Kemp, introduced as the district's incoming executive director of athletics; Coach Kemp outlined plans to prioritize athlete development, coach support and community partnerships.
The Cedar Hill ISD board introduced Coach Kemp as the district's incoming executive director of athletics during its regular January meeting. Board leadership reviewed Kemp's long coaching and school-administration career and said she will lead the district's athletic program following an interim term that began in August 2025.
Coach Kemp, who the board credited with championship seasons and prior service as the first female athletic director in a large district, told trustees she views the role as an opportunity for servant leadership and community partnership. "I'm here to serve," she said, adding that athletics should build character and provide academic and leadership opportunities for scholars.
Trustees noted Kemp's record as a coach and campus leader and welcomed her emphasis on coaching development, parent and community engagement and academic supports for student-athletes. The board did not take a formal personnel vote on the position at the meeting; the introduction and remarks were presented as an administrative recognition and transition update.
The district said Kemp will work with campus coaches, families and community partners to support scholar-athletes, expand engagement opportunities and maintain academic expectations tied to athletic participation.
