Cedar Hill ISD board approves policy update, personnel hires and construction GMP; several votes unanimous

The Cedar Hill Independent School District board unanimously approved several routine and programmatic items at its meeting, including a policy update to comply with Senate Bill 13, a personnel hire and a guaranteed maximum price for a bond-funded construction phase.

The board voted to adopt the administration's update to the district's library-resources policy to align with Senate Bill 13; the motion was moved, seconded and approved without recorded opposition. "The administration recommends that you adopt the policy update," an administration presenter said before the vote.

Trustees also cast the district's full allotment of 16 votes for candidate Pauline Medrano to the Dallas Central Appraisal District board. A trustee moved to allocate all 16 votes to Medrano; the motion was seconded and carried unanimously.

On a bond-related motion, Core Construction presented Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) 1 for the Lacey Enrollment Center phase 1 at $5,256,435. Brandon Ruse of Core Construction summarized the GMP and schedule. "GMP 1 has come in at $5,256,435," Ruse said; after discussion the board moved, seconded and approved the GMP to allow demolition and construction to begin as scheduled.

The board approved the hiring of Sondra King as director of finance; King introduced herself and said she looks forward to supporting the district. The hiring motion was moved, seconded and approved unanimously.

The board also approved the consent agenda of routine items A through D and accepted monthly reports as presented.

What happens next: The district will proceed with procurement and preconstruction steps tied to the approved GMP; the administration said it will return to the board with final adoption timelines and dollar figures for any textbook or curriculum recommendations tied to grant or adoption processes.
