Crowley ISD Board hires DeMarcus Harris as North Crowley head football coach

The Crowley ISD Board of Trustees on Jan. 24 unanimously approved the hire of DeMarcus Harris as head football coach at North Crowley High School following a superintendent recommendation.
Superintendent Michael McFarland recommended Harris, citing the candidate’s playoff experience and the district’s desire to "build a dynasty and sustain success," and trustees moved and seconded the appointment. Trustee Kalisha Stevenson moved to recommend Harris; Trustee June W. Davis seconded, and the board voted to approve the appointment without dissent.
Harris spoke to the board after the vote, thanking his family, assistant coaches and district leaders and saying he had moved his family to the district to lead the program. "My goal is to keep pushing our core values, our standard of behavior, our mission statement to make these guys be champions in all areas of life, not just football," Harris said.
The board held a brief signing ceremony and photo op with the coach and student-athletes immediately after the vote. Board President called for the vote and stated the motion passed unanimously.
No conditions or amendments to the hire were recorded in the meeting minutes. The board had adjourned to executive session earlier under Texas Government Code 551.074 to discuss administrative personnel before returning to open session and considering the hiring action.
The hiring is effective immediately, according to the board action recorded at the meeting, and the district will proceed with onboarding and program support as discussed.
