Stanley council adopts FY2025–26 budget, approves flexible-work policy and fireworks permit

Mayor Cathy Kirkland called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. and the council handled several routine and substantive items in a single session at Town Hall. Council Member Marsha Miskelly moved to open the public hearing on the budget and Council Member Drew Stewart seconded; after the hearing was closed, Council Member Leigh Anna Helms moved to adopt the FY2025–26 budget and Council Member Marsha Miskelly seconded. The motion to adopt passed unanimously.

Manager Jenkins announced Finance Director Kevin Haney will retire at the end of June; the council commended his service. Mayor Cathy Kirkland also announced that Council Member Pate had resigned and instructed Town Clerk Olga McGinnis to advertise the Ward 1 vacancy.
