Stanley council adopts standalone special-events ordinance to standardize permitting

The Stanley Town Council unanimously approved text amendments on Aug. 12 to create a standalone chapter in the town code addressing special events.
Planning Director Sarah Penley said the amendments are intended to create uniform procedures for both private and town-sponsored events by clarifying when organizers must notify the town, what permits apply and when town services (utilities, security, road closures) are available. She told the council that staff consulted Public Works and the police chief while drafting the changes to minimize liability and safety risks.
Council Member Chad Jones moved to approve the amendments; Council Member Drew Stewart seconded and the council adopted the changes with a recorded 5–0 vote.
Penley said the changes will help staff coordinate services consistently and reduce ad-hoc vendor handling, noting that some individuals had previously used the mobile vendor-permit process inconsistently or not at all. The amendments will be added to the town’s code of ordinances and implemented according to standard procedures.
