Chula Vista council advances six candidates for South County Higher Education Task Force interviews, sets March 10 special meeting

After distributing nomination tallies and reconvening from a short recess, the council agreed by motion to advance six applicants to the interview stage and set a special meeting for March 10 at 5:00 p.m. to conduct the interviews. The clerk read the list of applicants that had received multiple nominations and the council expanded the interview pool by consensus to include additional candidates; the motion to create six interview slots and set the date passed by unanimous roll call.
City staff said applicants who receive three or more nominations will advance automatically to interviews; if fewer than five advance, council could conduct additional nomination rounds. Staff noted one applicant withdrew earlier in the day and that some appointments to the state-level slots remain pending.
