MCAS Yuma officers brief council on WTI training and March airshow

Colonel Jared Stone and Major Sean Graham from Marine Corps Air Station Yuma briefed the council on the Weapons and Tactics Instructor (WTI) spring class and the upcoming airshow.
Col. Stone thanked the community for supporting MCAS operations and said the station is "100 planning to press forward with the air show this spring" on March 14. He noted this briefing was his last before a WTI class rotation and expressed gratitude for local partnerships that facilitate training.
Major Sean Graham described the WTI course structure: a seven-week program beginning with about three weeks of academics followed by a 30-day flight phase; the class will include a mix of Marines, joint and coalition personnel and will exercise in training areas near Yuma and into neighboring states. Graham described a simulated disaster-relief exercise staged around Crane Middle School and Kiwanis Park involving local fire and parks staff, and reminded the council the event follows FAA regulations and requires coordination with military ATC.
Kirk and others later referenced public-access times and spectator locations near Kiwanis Park with activity concentrated in early morning windows; the presenters invited council and residents to attend the airshow and VIP events.
