In the first formal actions of the incoming board, commissioners voted 5 to 0 to adopt Option #1 for the 2024 meeting schedule — covering Jan. 1 through June 30, 2024 — a plan staff said aligns meetings with the town’s fiscal year. Commissioner Dixie Abernathy moved for approval; Commissioner Scott Kincaid seconded.
The board also named Commissioner Richard Atkinson as mayor pro tempore by a 5-to-0 vote after Abernathy’s motion and a second from Commissioner Kathy Ramsey. The appointment will determine who presides in the mayor’s absence.
