At the March 5 workshop the Town of Cramerton's Board of Commissioners authorized staff to finalize a contract with Viz (Gary Fankhauser) to advance the Center Street streetscape project into final design and pricing.
Town Manager Zach Ollis and staff explained the proposal would finalize design, prepare construction documents and allow the town to solicit quotes at several scopes so the Board can later consider construction funding. The scope includes elements tied to Centennial Park, planter/seeding boxes, wrought-iron features around park areas, a walkway from shade sails to the veterans memorial, grading and turf work; alternate phases could extend Center Street improvements further north and across the street.
Commissioner Scott Kincaid asked whether the proposal included all planned phases; Ollis said some alternate phases would be included and staff would bring costs for Board authorization at a later date. Commissioner Dixie Abernathy moved to authorize the Town Manager and Town Attorney to finalize the contract at the proposed price and scope; the motion passed 4–0.
Mayor Wills asked whether lighting could be incorporated into the design, and the Board indicated interest in coordinating lighting with Town Hall sightlines.
The authorization enables staff to obtain firm cost estimates; any construction-phase funding would require future Board approval.
