Cramerton authorizes contract negotiations with Waste Pro after procurement

The Town of Cramerton Board of Commissioners on March 19 authorized staff to negotiate a contract with Waste Pro as the town’s selected waste services provider.
Staff reported that five bids were received for the town’s waste services contract; after evaluation the board selected Waste Pro and directed staff to begin negotiations. Melinda Barkley and Ted Good of Waste Pro attended the meeting to describe the company’s services and to answer questions.
Commissioner Jennifer Ramsey moved to select Waste Pro and to authorize the Town Manager and Town Attorney to negotiate a contract for final Board approval; Mayor Pro Tempore Richard Atkinson seconded the motion. The vote was 5–0.
What happens next: town staff and the town attorney will negotiate contract terms and return a final contract to the board for approval. The negotiated contract will include service specifications, rates and a timeline for transition if the company is a new provider; those final details were not read into the record and are to be determined in negotiations.
