Nolan O'Connell and Donovan Hojola, co‑chairs of the Youth Council, and Shruti Lingam Nottamai, policy vice chair, outlined priorities for the year: a transit PSA aimed at increasing youth transit use, a briefing on mental‑health resources scheduled for May 20, a public safety briefing on Olympia's sanctuary city status and a summer recess with August and September planning for climate and onboarding new members. The youth council also plans to continue PSAs similar to last year's Narcan and overdose video and to host public events and recruitment efforts.
Mayor Pro Tem Nguyen moved to approve the proposed 2026 youth council work plan; the motion was seconded and passed by voice vote.
Council members praised the youth council's work, noting successful outreach events and collaboration with city communications and Intercity Transit staff on transit messaging. Susan Grisham confirmed Intercity Transit had engaged communications staff to assist the youth on the transit PSA.
