The board approved the 2026–27 academic calendar on the consent agenda (motion by Trustee Pantoja; second Vice President Cisneros), recorded in the meeting as "motion passes eight-zero." The Whisper Valley infrastructure item was pulled for a future meeting.
On contracts, Dr. Bailey explained the district is hiring contracted interim principals and district administrators to fill vacancies through the end of the school year. She said the positions are funded from salary lines already allocated to those roles and that no new FTEs are being created. "All contract positions are funded through the salary that has already been allocated to those particular positions," Dr. Bailey said. The board approved the contracts on a motion by Secretary Wagner with a second from Vice President Nettles; vote recorded 8–0.
After a closed session, the board approved employment actions and the hiring of Mr. Jose Zuniga as assistant principal for Popham Elementary. Trustee Franco moved the employment approvals (second Trustee Sierra) and Secretary Wagner moved to hire Jose Zuniga (second Trustee Pantoja); both measures passed unanimously.
Ending: Staff said contracted positions will continue through the school year while permanent hiring proceeds in spring; trustees asked staff to ensure continuity and clarity for sites using contracted leaders.
