Kane County adopted Ordinance O 2026‑6 on Feb. 24, 2026, revising county business‑license regulations to add or clarify requirements for alcohol permitting and late penalties.
Attorney Jeff Stott told the commission the ordinance changes require that anyone seeking an alcohol permit also obtain a county business license, supply a background check, and meet all applicable state requirements. Stott also said the ordinance’s late‑penalty language was reworded to remove ambiguity.
The ordinance was adopted by unanimous vote. The minutes do not state an effective date or additional administrative steps in the county clerk’s office.
During public comment earlier in the meeting, Jo Anne Rando‑Moon urged the county to stop honoring city business licenses in lieu of county licenses and to require county licenses for any business operating in Kane County; that concern is consistent with the ordinance change making county licensing explicit for alcohol permits.
