Board approves TCAD nominations, applies for criminal-justice grants and hires board governance coordinator

The board also approved a resolution authorizing the administration to apply for multiple safety and security grants through the Office of the Governor Criminal Justice Division. Chief Ella summarized grant categories (campus safety enhancements, law enforcement equipment and training, juvenile diversion supports and cybersecurity planning) and said applications were due Feb. 12; trustees approved the resolution so staff could proceed with grant submissions.
Following a closed session, the board returned to open session and approved employment resignations/terminations of professional staff and adopted the superintendent’s recommendation to hire Sandra Rhodes as Board Governance Coordinator. All personnel motions passed unanimously.
