Dickinson ISD presents annual report showing growth on third-grade reading, math and CCMR goals

On outcomes, the presenter said Dickinson ISD is performing at or above the state and region in English language arts, mathematics, science and social studies. The board was given STAR goal comparisons for 2023'24 graduates and current projections: third-grade reading met a stated outcome of 53% (the board goal listed as 52%); math STAR showed 54% (board goal 48%); and College, Career and Military Ready (CCMR) was reported at 78% (board goal 75%). The presenter said middle-of-year MAP data show growth (BOI math 55 to MOI 63) and that MCLASS K'3 data indicate steady literacy gains.
The report also included safety data: "in Dickinson ISD for the 2024'25 school year, we had 121" violent or criminal incidents, the presenter said, explaining the district counts a range from fights to threats when law enforcement is involved.
The presenter told the board the annual report will be posted on the district website within two weeks. Trustees asked for clarifications on slides and projections; presenters noted that some slides in the packet contained campus-by-campus comparisons and MAP-based STAR projections.
