The Fort Myers City Council on Jan. 20 approved a package of budget amendments and project appropriations that included funding for public art, a land acquisition for Midtown infrastructure, and feasibility services for a proposed multisports complex.
Assistant City Attorney Juan Dente read the resolution titles as council took up item 7.1 (resolution 2026‑3), which appropriated a total of $470,997.02 to the public art fund with allocations from the general fund ($312,563.68), the utility fund ($147,080.72), the country club fund ($3,200) and the solid waste fund ($8,152.62). Council approved the resolution on motion with no recorded opposition.
Council also approved resolution 2026‑10 to increase appropriations by $231,000 for the acquisition of 2208 and 2210 Central Avenue, a residential duplex property to support Midtown infrastructure improvements. The resolution directs funding from the land acquisition fund reserves and passed without opposition.
Separately, council approved resolution 2026‑12, increasing appropriations by $356,180 to pay for feasibility services related to a multisports complex and mixed‑use development. Staff said the amount will fund consultant feasibility work and other predevelopment services; the motion carried.
Council members did not request additional presentations and the measures were approved as presented. No roll‑call tallies were recorded in the public transcript beyond the chair's declaration that motions carried.
