Committee approves adding four medals and Combat Infantry Badge to Georgia veterans plates

Representative Osteen told the committee HB 1191 would add four medals — Navy Corps medal, Marine Corps medal, Airman's Medal and Coast Guard Medal — to Georgia's veterans specialty license plates and that colleagues had asked to include the Combat Infantry Badge as well. "This bill does is just adds 4 medals to our veterans tags," Representative Osteen said, listing the medals and noting community requests for the change.
Senators discussed the proposed addition and agreed to a friendly amendment to include the Combat Infantry Badge. Senator Payne moved the amendment; Senator Wicks seconded. Chair called the question and members voted in favor by voice vote; the record shows the amendment passed and the committee then approved the committee substitute and passed the bill out of committee unanimously. The chair congratulated the bill sponsor and said the bill was off to the Senate Rules Committee.
