The city estimated each median would cost just under $100,000, and staff has coordinated with Parks for irrigation and landscaping. Traffic-data reports from speed-feedback signs show elevated speeds mainly overnight; staff said medians address passing rather than the late-night speeding that requires enforcement.
Council identified driveway, access and neighborhood impacts as constraints and asked staff to evaluate alternative engineering and enforcement measures; staff recommended starting with bids for the two recommended islands and returning with construction pricing and driveway accommodations.
