Collierville appoints Steven Hall as assistant town attorney and municipal prosecutor

The Collierville Board of Mayor and Aldermen on Oct. 13 appointed Steven Hall as assistant town attorney to serve as the town’s municipal prosecutor, effective Oct. 14.
Town Administrator Molly Maynor presented the appointment, saying Mr. Hall "has extensive experience in state and federal prosecution areas across West Tennessee," and cited more than 30 years of prosecutorial experience, including 24 years with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Tennessee and prior service in the Shelby County District Attorney General’s Office. Maynor said Mr. Hall was recommended for the position by lead prosecutors Mark McDaniel and Nick Pratty and by Town Attorney Nathan Bix.
The board moved and seconded the appointment and approved it by roll call. When asked by the mayor if he wanted to say anything, Mr. Hall replied, "I'm just looking forward to working with everybody."
Why it matters: the appointment fills a part-time prosecutor vacancy created when the prior prosecutor retired Sept. 30; Mr. Hall’s experience is intended to provide continuity in the town’s court prosecution function.
What’s next: Mr. Hall’s appointment is effective Oct. 14 and he will begin serving in the municipal court as prosecutor; the town’s attorneys and court staff will coordinate onboarding and case coverage.
