Board approves multiple budget amendments, including $750,000 state grant for Wolf River pedestrian bridge

The Collierville Board of Mayor and Aldermen approved several budget amendments at its Dec. 8 meeting that staff said would be used for ongoing capital and operating needs.
Finance staff (Mr. Spas) told the board the library requested appropriation of $11,573.80 in donated funds from the general fund restricted balance to support renderings for the library expansion capital project and fundraising efforts. Finance also requested $22,350 of general fund unassigned balance for annual maintenance of the town’s procurement software. Public Utilities asked to appropriate $60 of water and sewer fund cash for the well pumps replacement CIP closeout. Engineering requested the board recognize and appropriate a $750,000 state direct appropriation grant for the Wolf River Pedestrian Bridge and Trails CIP project; staff noted the funds had been received earlier in the fiscal year. If approved, staff said the capital program would recognize an additional $761,633.80.
A motion to approve the package of budget amendments was made, seconded and approved by roll call. Staff indicated they were on hand to answer questions and provided a sample motion on the screen.
Why it matters: Appropriating donated funds and grants allows design, fundraising and project closeout steps to proceed. The $750,000 state appropriation is a material addition to the Wolf River pedestrian bridge project and will be included in the town’s capital investment program.
